7:00pm:  IEPS and 504s-The Good, the Bad & the Ugly  
               with Paula McCormick, Ph.D.
                Special Education Advocate


The presentation will include a discussion of the IEP process from referral to services and 
placement. The important role of the parent as advocate will be discussed along with helpful tips 
in navigating the process for both IEPs and 504 Plans. 

Dr. Paula McCormick received her doctoral degree from George Washington University. She has 
been a public school administrator, principal, special education consultant, due process hearing 
officer for State and County level special education hearings, and serves as an expert witness in 
special education cases.

Since 1988, Dr. McCormick has maintained a private practice as a special education advocate 
working with families in Maryland to obtain educational services and school placements for 
their children. In addition, Dr. McCormick has been a consultant to the highly regarded Summit 
School in Edgewater, MD for the past seventeen years. Additional information can be found on
