7:00pm: Sensory Processing Disorder: Signs, Symptoms, and Strategies 
with Debra Taylor, OTR/L Occupational Therapist 

Ms. Taylor will describe what sensory processing disorder is, how it relates to ADHD, and which accommodations and modifications that can be used at home, school, and in other environments. She will explain what a sensory diet is, and how it can be used to help children perform at their best. She will touch on how ADHD and sensory processing difficulties can impact children's ability to engage socially, and in the educational environment.

Ms. Taylor is the founder and Director of Chesapeake Occupational Therapy Associates, LLC which opened in June 2001. She offers individual occupational therapy services to children for a variety of disorders, including ADHD, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, motor coordination difficulties, handwriting difficulties, "picky eaters", and low muscle tone. We offer social skills groups on Saturday mornings. She is SIPT Certified, certified in administering the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test. She has been trained in Brain Gym (Educational Kinesiology), The Alert Program (How Does Your Engine Run), Therapeutic Listening, and the Wilbarger Deep Pressure Brushing program. Prior to that, she worked for Anne Arundel County Public Schools and Prince George's County Public Schools as an Occupational Therapist. She is currently a contract therapist at Maryland Therapeutic Riding as their only occupational therapist and PATH Certified therapist in their hippotherapy program.
