Monthly Meetings

We meet at Severna Park United Methodist Church from 7:00pm to 9:20pm on the second Tuesday of each month (September through June) Meetings include refreshments and support groups and are open to non-members - please come out and join us!  Directions: Take Route I-97 to Exit 10, Benfield Boulevard, toward Severna Park. Drive for approximately 2 miles, and the church will be on your right.  Click here for a map.  Drive around to the back of the church and park by the shed and playset at the far end of the building - we are in the corner room of the church.  You can enter by either the side or the back door.  We hope to see you soon!

7:00pm: "Study for Success: Study Skills Strategies for ADD/LD Students" with Janice T. Hubbard, M.S.

 

Note that this is NOT our normal meeting date!  The date was changed due to conflicts with schools starting the fall semester!  We will return to our normal schedule in October.

Janice T. Hubbard, M.S. received her M.S. in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, has been a teacher and guidance counselor since 1977 and is currently a counselor for grades 5-8 at St. Mary’s Elementary School.  She has developed a successful Study Skills program for middle and high schools, teaching seminars across the state since 1985.  Her course, featured in newspaper articles across the country, focuses on time management, learning techniques, organization, homework hassles, advocating for your child and test taking strategies. She also has a private practice working with students to enhance study skills, time management, and organization.

Let's Get Organized!  With clutter comes stress, zapped energy, and even unnecessary purchases. Professional Organizer Lou Ann Hill will offer quick tips and easy steps to living a more organized and uncluttered life. In this 90-minute presentation, Lou Ann will share space-saving, low-cost tools and systems to help you and your family win the battle on clutter and enjoy a more organized and happy home.

 

Lou Ann Hill is the founder of Lighten Your Load Solutions, a full-scale concierge service specializing in home and office organizing.  Lou Ann helps time-pressed individuals and families simplify their schedules, clear the clutter, and lead more balanced, enjoyable lives. A project management executive for over 30 years, her time management solutions and work/life balance expertise has helped leading corporate executives, busy professionals, and countless families attain greater personal and professional freedom with her organizing solutions. Ms. Hill is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management, a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers, as well as the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County and Talbot County chambers of commerce. She is a frequent speaker at Strayer University in Washington, DC, and she writes the 'After "I Do"' column for 'Tying the Knot' magazine. Her offices are located in Annapolis and Tilghman Island, Maryland.

DECEMBER 9, 2008

 

7:00pm: "ADHD and Attachment: Building and Maintaining Healthy Relationships Across the Lifespan" with Jill Penaloza, M.S. Ed., ATR-BC, GCP

In this interactive presentation, participants will learn about the emotional and physical benefits of loving attachment and will practice verbal and non-verbal activities (social skills) that can help them build and maintain healthy relationships across the lifespan.

Jill Penaloza, MS. Ed, ATR-BC, CGP, is a certified Art Therapist. For over 15 years, Jill has helped children, adolescents and adults access the power of verbal and non-verbal creativity to powerfully change and enhance their lives.  Jill received her Master's Degree in Art Therapy and Education from Nazareth College of Rochester and is certified by the American Art Therapy Association and the American Group Psychotherapy Association.  She has practiced art therapy in schools, hospitals, and community mental health centers and is currently in private practice in Annapolis, MD.
